We are pleased to announce Dr. Avis Jones-DeWeever as the keynote speaker at our 2nd Legislative Summit the evening of December 9.
An accomplished scholar, writer, and public speaker, Dr. Jones-DeWeever is an authority on race, gender and the economy as well as women’s empowerment and leadership development. She is the author or co-author of numerous publications focused on issues of particular importance to women and the African American community. Her works include Beyond Broke: Why Closing the Racial Wealth Gap is a Priority for National Economic Security and Why Women's Empowerment Matters: Engaging the Global Economy by Leaving No Woman Behind.
Her policy perspectives have been shared widely in various national and international outlets including CNN, C-SPAN, PBS, TV-ONE, BET, CBC, Sirius/XM Radio, NPR, the Washington Post, the National Journal, the Huffington Post, and many more.
Currently, Dr. Avis Jones-DeWeever serves as the Founding President of Incite Unlimited, a Washington, DC based consulting firm that provides rigorous research, advocacy strategy development and messaging design to help organizations more efficiently and effectively realize their mission and impact their world.
Prior to launching Incite, Dr. Jones-DeWeever held positions in a variety of highly esteemed organizations and governmental institutions including the Governor’s Office of Virginia, the Maryland State Legislature, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and the Institute for Women's Policy Research. Most recently she served as the Executive Director of the National Council of Negro Women, where she led a new organizational push towards policy action and impact.
We are excited that Dr. Jones-DeWeever will be joining us in Montana. We know she will help energize and motivate each of us as we plan for the 2015 Legislative Session.
